New post every Sunday

Hey everyone, and welcome to another Lou's Guide To. Today I am going to be talking about my favourite social media platforms and where you can find me. I hope you enjoy this post, and I will see you all very very soon. xx

Just to let you all know, I'm not here to list all the dangers of social media but I just thought I would add it in at the start. The internet can be a very very scary place so please please be careful online. Never ever give out any personal information etc. Please stay safe.

Notice over, now lets get into the post.

Blogger

This was obviously going to be on the top of my list in the social media category. I love blogging so much. A quick summary for those who don't know why I started blogging, click here. I honestly loving blogging and I wouldn't change my blogging experience so far for the world. You guys are so supportive of everything I do and I couldn't thank you more for encouraging me to continue doing the thing I love doing. If you are thinking about starting a blog, I am 100% sure you should try it. If you don't like it, no problem. But then, if you do, it becomes such a valued hobby.

Instagram

I love instagram as I find it's a really direct way to connect with you. I have also met really amazing, inspiring bloggers through Instagram and I collabed with some of them, so this benefitted you guys too! I recently got locked out of my instagram, so my new account is @louloves01 , my old account was @lou_loves_01 so if you followed that instagram be sure to check out my new one.

Pinterest

My final social media favourite is Pinterest. Pinterest is a gold mine for hair/make up inspiration as well as blog post ideas. Pinterest is the first place I turn to if I lack inspiration as there is hundreds of amazing ideas. One warning about pinterest is some of the hair/make up looks are so hard to recreate so try picking ideas you know you will be able to accomplish :) My username on pinterest is just Lou Loves. (I will leave all of my links at the bottom of this post :)

Thank you so much for reading, and I will see you all very very soon,

Hey everyone, today I am going to be doing a collab with the lovely Beth May so click here to check out her post. Anyway, we will both be reviewing the Kiko Nail Laquers. I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you all very very soon. xx

I have 5 nail varnishes from Kiko but I'm going to be concentrating on 1 of them. And that is, the Frozen Smoothies Nail Varnish in the shade 011 Ribbon Pink. It is a gorgeous muted pink shade that has a slight shimmer to it which makes it shine and look really nice when it catches the light.

The packaging of this is really unusual but really cool. It has a main cap that looks like your supposed to twist it off, but in fact you just pull that lid off to reveal another ribbed lid that you then twist to open up the product, You could argue that this makes it over packaged but it's just so cool! The brush on this product is amazing and covers the nail really well and applies the product precisely and evenly. Like all kiko nail varnishes the product is really opaque and I found it only needed 1 coat compared to the usual 2 I put on other Kiko varnishes.

I love the consistency of this varnish. It looks and feels like a gel but doesn't come along with the fuss of applying a gel varnish. I would 100% recommend this range from Kiko. I would say if you can get your hands on it do as it is Limited Edition.

It is a range of 4 shades I think - Pink (this one), Orange-y, Blue and a really pale white/pink. They are £4.90 so a lot more expensive than the original range but they are so worth it.

I hope you all liked this post and I will see you very very soon,

Hey everyone, and welcome to another lou's guide to. This one is going to be focused towards eyeshadows and all the different types. I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you very very soon. xx

In spring and summer I really enjoy wearing pale, shimmery shades as I think they always look really really nice with a bright, bold lip. However, in autumn and winter, I like dark and matte shades as they always look nicer with darker, berry/red toned lips.

My all time favourite palette is the L'Oreal La Palette Nude in Beige. My favourite shades are the first 3 shades at the start and then the 7th shade which is a matte dark brown. All of the shades are really pigmented and the palette comes with a really nice brush which I use for inner corner highlight. I did a full review of this in a post so click here to find out more.

A favourite small palette is the Tanya Burr Hollywood palette. This has got a highlight shade, a gold, a really glittery bronze and a dark brown shade. They all a really cute name and are sooooo pigmented.I don't really know what else to say about it so if you are interested take a look at the palette and swatches here -

My favourite cream eyeshadows are the Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoos in 096 Creamy Beige and 35 On and On Bronze. These last all day without creasing and no primer. They do an amazing colour range that suits every skin tone. The 2 I have are bronze-y shades that ;look really nice between summer and autumn (that weird transition time). These are also really affordable as they are only £4.99 which is crazy for the quality and amount of product you get!

An alternative to cream shadows are shadow sticks. I love the Kiko ones and they do them mainly in bronze/gold/taupe shades but they are the sort that would suit any skin tone (especially pale skin). I have 04 and 06. O4 in a gold/bronze shade and 06 is a dark brown/copper shade. I can't remember exactly how much these were but \I think they are around £6/7.

The brushes I like to use are: Real Techniques Base Shadow brush, Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush, Real Techniques Shading Brush, Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush and Real Techniques Accent Brush. I basically just love the Real Techniques brushes.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I will see you very very soon,

Hey everyone, a couple of weeks ago, the lovely Eve Nicholls tagged me in the happiness tag and I have only just got around to doing it! I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you very soon! Check out Eve's post here.

Books

I actually love reading although, I don't really talk about it on here! Anyway, these are my 3 picks:

Girl Online By Zoe Sugg/Zoella

I feel like this is such an obvious pick as nearly everyone here on the internet loves this but I am going to just say it anyway. It's based around a girl called Penny who starts a blog called "Girl Online" and she works for her mum's wedding business and she flies over to America for a client. She meets a rock star called Noah and instantly falls in love with him. When her blog blows up she has to face a big dilemma - but i'll leave you to figure that one out yourself :)

Love, Tanya By Tanya Burr

This is a book by Youtuber Tanya Burr. It has 12 sections and they are: Growing Up, Skincare Essentials, Make up Essentials, Hair and Nail Essentials, Fashion, Love, Life, Baking and Recipes, Confidence and Happiness, Youtube, Looking Forward and an Ask Tanya. This has been one of my favourite youtubers books so far!

Distance Between Us By Kasie West

I don't really know how to describe this book to be honest with you. So instead, click here to see the description and reviews on Amazon.

Films/TV

I am a huge fan of films and TV and I frequently but them in monthly favourites.

Extreme Couponing

I used to watch this a while back and have only just started watching it again. This is amazing, it's based on people in America who fell into hard times and started couponing to get discounts at random supermarkets. Sometimes they even get supermarkets to pay them to take it!

Home Fires

I put this in a recent favourites, so click  to read about this.

Elf

I love this movie and whip it out every Christmas on December 1st. It stars Will Ferrell and i'm pretty sure you all know this film so I'm not going to ramble on about this anymore.

Scent

I am only going to name 1 scent as I can't really think of 3 scents.

Ted Baker Pink Collection

I love this as it's fruity but also has bit of a sweet side as well which goes really well together. These come in minis which are in plastic bottles or full sizes which come in glass bottles. The mini size body sprays are perfect to throw in your bag as they wont break.

Miscellaneous

Happy Hippos

I had these all the time growing up and I loved them :) It wasn't until recently when my friend bought me a pack that I realised how much I loved them.

Hey everyone, and welcome to another review. It feels like it's been ages since I last did a review so I thought I would do one for you! I'm going to get straight into this but I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you very very soon. xx

I wasn't a huge fan of this concealer to be perfectly honest about you and I don't really see the hype around it. This concealer is a liquid concealer not a stick concealer like some others I have tried which has it's pros and cons. A pro of this is it blends really well as it is a liquid and this was one of the only things I liked about this. One issue with it being a liquid concealer is my bottle leaked. I don't know if all bottles do or if it was just mine but this was a major issue when I travelled.

This is a very full coverage concealer that you have to be quite careful with the amount of product you put on. When you get the right amount of product, it looks really nice and like it isn't there, but if you put too much product on it looks quite cake-y and it's pretty obvious that you are trying to cover over something.

Collection do a great colour range of concealers for pale skin which I found so useful when trying to find a concealer to suit my skin tone. The whole range however, does have an orange undertone which wasn't great for me as I have pink under tones in my skin but obviously, if you do have yellow or orange undertoned skin these concealers would be brilliant for you.

Overall, I would give the product an 8 out of 10 as it was a pretty good concealer but the orange under tones brought the score down. For the packaging, I would give it 5/10 purely because my bottle leaked in every single make up bad or make up drawer I owned.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I will see you very very soon,

Hey everyone, today I thought that I would take a little step back from my regular Lou's Guide To and do a Top 5 under £5. I think I have done this before but my picks have changed and a lot of you didn't see that post so I thought I would do another! I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you again on Wednesday! xx

1- Natural Collection Mascara

This mascara is great if you are starting out in make up or you are just on a tight budget. It comes in brown/black and black so you can pick which you prefer. It lengthens your lashes but still keeps them looking really natural which is nice for a day to day basis but not so much for an evening look but you could try and build it up if you wanted to. This is also super super cheap as its only £1.99.

2- Maybelline 24hr colour tattoo

I have 2 of these and I absolutely adore them! I have 096 Creamy Beige and 35 On and On Bronze. They do a gorgeous shade range and cater for all skin tones. This feels like it sticks to my eyelids, but in a good way. They stay on all day without creasing and I tend not to put a primer on with it as well. These are just under the £5 budget as they are £4.99 but I feel they should be a lot lot more but I'm not complaining. ;)

096
35
Left - 096 Right - 35

3- Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipsticks

The first thing I am going to say about this is stay away from the glittery ones. I bought a glittery one and it literally comes out as pure glitter so steer clear from the glittery ones where possible. I do however, have on in Pink Mallow and it is a gorgeous pink/nude colour that is perfect in spring. I wouldn't say they are particularly shiny but they are quite moisturising. Again, these are extremely affordable as they are only £1.99.

4- Nivea Micellar Water

This is honestly my favourite cleanser ever. It gets rid of make up really easily and cleanses your face well without being too harsh on the skin. They do a Micellar water in every range they do and because I have sensitive/dry skin I obviously use the one from that range but most people say they like the ones from other ranges that they use :) This is also really affordable for a cleanser as it is £3.69

5- Simple Rapid Action Clear Skin Spot Zapper

This thing is AMAZING!!!! I love this product so much, it is a tube of product that you apply with a rollerball and it basically just gets rid of any spots super super quickly. I don't really know what else I can say about this apart from that is so affordable - it retails at £3.29 I think

Thank you so much for watching and a I will see you very very soon

Hey everyone, and today I am back with another baking post. You guys, always seem to enjoy my baking posts so I am trying to do more where I can. I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you very very soon. xx

Ingredients for 8 little pots:

360ml full fat milk
420g of dark chocolate (at least 70%)
360g condensed milk
60g unsalted butter
A pinch of sea salt

Optional Extras

A bar of milk/dark chocolate for grating
Fresh rosemary sprig
Vanilla pod
Grated orange zest

Method:

Place your milk in a sauce pan (as well as your additional extras) over a medium heat and bring to boil. (If you have extras, strain the milk now). Melt the chocolate, milk, condensed milk, butter and a pinch of salt in a large saucepan over a medium to low heart and stir occasionally. When the chocolate and butter have melted, increase the heat and whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy. Divide the mixture between ramekin dishes and put in the fridge for at least 7 hours, or over night. When ready to serve take the bar of chocolate and grate over the pots :)

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I will see you very very soon.

Hey everyone, welcome back to another post. The other day, the lovely Emsi Rose tagged me in the Starlight Blogger Award. I hope you enjoy this post and check out her post here. And, I will see you very very soon. xx

The Rules are:

Answer the 3 questions you we asked
Tag 6 more people
Ask them 3 questions

The questions Emsi asked me were:

What keeps you going when things get tough?

I don't really know to be honest. Probably, the fact that I can always distract myself by writing blog post, or chatting to you guys in some way.

What are the 3 things you want more people to know?

Oooohhhh, this one is hard. The first one being - I blog because I enjoy it - a lot of people think we blog to become famous or the classic "you're just trying to be like Zoella" when we're really not. The second one is - Don't judge people by the way they look. And finally - Don't aspire to be like people in magazines because they are incredibly photoshopped. I had a full on rant about this so click here to read more.

What's the favourite thing you like to cook?

My favourite thing to cook is the BBC Sausage and Penne Pasta Bake. My favourite thing to bake is Tanya Burr's Triple Chocolate Cookies

The 6 people I tag are:

Marti from Pink Smarties
Lauren from Lauren Joanne
Hannah from Hannah Porter
Beth from Beth May
Eve from Eve Nicholls
Alice from Girl Abroad

My questions are:

What inspired you to start blogging?
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you love?
Who would you collab with if you could collab with anyone?

Thank you so much for reading, and I will see you again tomorrow

Hey everyone, and welcome back to another lou's guide to. Please let me know if you have anymore suggestions for these Lou's guide to as I am starting to run out of ideas. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you very very soon. Byeee x

There are so mine different types of lip products out there, and it can get quite over whelming, so I am going to run through some of my favourites to help out any of you looking for some new lip products.

I am going to start off talking about is glosses. I am not a huge gloss fan but when I do decide to wear one I usually like wearing the Tanya Burr ones. The 2 I am going to mention aren't sold in any shops anymore, but I have seen it on amazon, so check Amazon out if you are interested. Anyway, the 2 I like from TB cosmetics is Aurora and Cotton Cane. Aurora is a muted dark pink tone and Cotton Cane is a pale pinky colour. All of the glosses feel really smooth on the lips, but not sticky at all. Another important note, is that they do not dry out your lips at all, I have tried so so many glosses that dry out my lips, and these don't at all.

Another type of lip product I enjoy is lip crayons. I feel like they are super easy to use and require absolutely no maintenance during the day. A really super affordable one is the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayon - I think there is about 5 colours in the range and I feel like they would suit any skin tone. I have one in shade number 2 which is a beautiful Barbie/pale pink that looks great in spring/summer. A slightly pricier one is the Kiko Lovegrove Free Spirit Lip and Cheek Crayon. If you are interested in these you might want to get your hands on one pretty quickly as they are running out super fast. I have the one in the shade 105 and it is a lovely, muted mauve/pink colour - its really hard to describe.

The final lip products I am going to talk about is lipsticks. I feel like lipsticks are a good option if you are going out for a little while, or can easily re-apply because they can be quite high maintenance. Some of my favourite drugstore ones are the Kiko Velvet Mat in 613 (Was Limited Edition) and Natural Collection in Pink Mallow. These are both matte shades and they are both pinky toned shades. A more high end product is MAC lipstick in Plumful. This is obviously a dark plum/ purple shade that is perfect for autumn/winter.

Thank you so much for reading,

Love Lou

P.S To make up for missing posts last week I will be posting every weekday this week :)

Hey everyone, and welcome to my spring essentials. I did one of these in autumn and winter last year, so I thought you guys would like to see my spring essentials as well :) If you like post share it using the links at the bottom of the post. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this post, and I will see you again very very soon. xxxx

My first essential is a bright lipstick. I have quite a few bright coloured lipsticks so I am going to share a few of my favourites with you. My top 3 are: Kiko Deco Delight in 02 (no longer sold), Barry M Matte Me Up Crayon in 2 and Kiko Free Spirit Lip and Cheek in 105 (Limited edition - only limited time left to buy). I am a huge fan of pink toned lipsticks in spring and I also quite like a coral but I don't really have a coral lipstick, but the Tanya Burr I Found Nemo lipgloss is a really nice colour coral.

Another make-up item which is an essential in the spring is light bronze/gold eye shadows. In spring and summer I prefer to wear lighter shade eye shadows as I feel it looks really nice with the bright lipsticks. Some of my favourites so far this spring are: Smashbox Photo Op Eye Trio in Screen shot - I have been loving nectar and cinnamon toast and the first 3 shades in the L'Oreal La Palette Nude. Also, let me know if you want a spring tutorial using some of the products I have mentioned in this post :).

A bath/shower item I love in spring is body scrub. My all time favourite scrub is the Soap and Glory Scrub of your Life. It is a really exfoliating scrub, but doesn't feel too harsh on my skin, which is quite sensitive. It is in the original soap and glory scent I think, but I don't have any left so I don't really know. I do also love other soap and glory scrubs like Sugar Crush and Smoothie Star which are slightly less exfoliating but still do the job.

A more fashion related item is dungarees. Dungarees have only just become a favourite of mine, after I recently picked up a pair from New Look. I feel like they are just a bit of a change from wearing just shorts all the time, as the weather gets warmer. As soon as it hits about 20 degrees I am already in shorts and tees hehe

A final essential of mine is, a light fruity scent. I never really had a "go to" scent until recently when I started using Katy Perry's Royal Revolution nearly everyday! It is fruity scented but also has undertones of vanilla which pretty much makes it my perfect spring/summer scent!

I'm sorry this post was 2 days late but I have been super busy. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know in the comments - what is your number 1 spring essential?

Hey everyone, and welcome to my April favourites! Today, I am going to be sharing with you some bits and bobs that I have loved throughout April! I hope you enjoy this post and I will see you all again soon. xx

Beauty

Alberto Balsam Juicy Green Apple Shampoo

I have fallen in love with this shampoo through out April. This shampoo is for normal to greasy hair. I picked this up because at the end of last month my hair was looking quite greasy - even on 2nd day hair! So, I picked this up in Boots and it has completely changed my hair. It makes it look shiny and healthy but without looking greasy, like other shampoos. This was also really affordable as well as it was only £! As well as being sold at boots, most big supermarkets sell it as well!

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Blur and Brighten Concealer

I bought this concealer in the middle of March as a replacement for my Collection Lasting Perfection which kept on leaking all of the time. I got this, as I knew it was not going to leak because it is a stick but when you apply it onto your face it looks like a liquid concealer - it is a really weird concept but it is one of the best concealers I have ever used! It feels really creamy on my skin but still covers up all blemishes and dark circles. The only slight issue I have had with this is on any dry skin it goes quite patchy and peel-y but if you moisturise before hand it is completely fine. This was also pretty affordable as it retails at £6

Kiko Free Spirit Lip and Cheek in 105

This is a limited edition product so if you want to try this out you might want to get your hands on this pretty quickly. This is a lipstick in a pencil style which was released with Kiko's range that was designed by Ross Lovegrove. This comes in a box with the pencil and giant sharpener inside - which is super handy! This comes in 5 or 6 shades (I don't really know how many as some shades have already sold out online). I got this in the shade 105 which when lightly applied is a bright pink and when built up is a darker pink but still pretty bright. As this is limited edition it was a bit pricier than the regular kiko lipstick but - it is also nearly double the size. This retails at £9.90.

Skincare

Jack Wills Hope Cove Body Lotion

I don't think I have ever mentioned this product on my blog before which really surprises me as it is probably my most favourite body lotion of all time! I got this in the "Weekender" set by Jack Wills at Christmas so I don't know the price of this individually but I am guessing it would be between £5 and £10.  Anyway, this is a really creamy lotion and makes your skin feel really silky smooth. It also has a really nice scent, but it is really hard to describe! If you are ever in a Jack Wills store give the Hope Cove range a smell and you will know what I mean!

Nivea Rich Regenerating Night Cream

This is my all time favourite moisturiser! There isn't really much I can say about this apart from it makes your skin really soft and moisturising! This was from my favourite skincare range - Nivea dry/sensitive. As some of you long term readers many know I have been using the range for a while now, and I have never tried a bad product from the range! The range is really affordable - this moisturiser costs £ per 50ml and comes in a tub or tube - depending on which you prefer.

Scent

Royal Revolution

This perfume is by Katy Perry and I got it a few years ago for my birthday. It's a really rice fruity
scent but it has vanilla undertones which makes it perfect for all seasons. I don't actually know how much this is as I cant seem to find it anywhere - if you know let me know in the comments :).

TV and Flim

Home Fires

Season 2 started up at the beginning of April. I hadn't watched season 1 but I was told I would probably pick up what had happened as the season goes on. I have now picked up what happened and I love it. It is set around WW2 and it can get a little scary at points. If you watch it, let me know in the comments who your favourite character is.

The Durrells

The Durrells is also a show that started at the start of April. It is on 8-9pm (just before Home Fires). This, I believe, is based on a true story. It is about the Durrell family that move to the Greek island of Corfu and try to start a new life. I don't want to give away too much so I won't say too much :)

Eddie The Eagle

I went to go and see this film in the middle of April and when I went, I didn't really know what to expect but it was actually really good! It is based on British Ski Jumper Eddie Edwards - who was nicknamed Eddie the Eagle at the Olympics. It was an absolutely brilliant film and I cried (I cry at nearly everything happy in a show/film. haha).

App/Game

Food Street

I started playing this game, towards the end of April and it is brilliant. It is where you get given a restaurant thingy and you have to make orders from people using the ingredients you have grown/produced. Then, there is also community events where you compete in teams! It is a completely free available on Google Play and App Store. It does however have in-app purchases which you can choose whether or not you want to purchase anything from the app.

Sacconejolys

I just had to include them in my favourites after the amazing announcement they made this month! I have been watching the Sacconejolys for about 3 years now - which is a long long time. (For those of you who didn't see their announcement click here to see it.

Pink Smarties (Marti)

I did a collab with Marti, and she was such a pleasure to work with, so you should definitely check out her blog

Thank you all so much for reading and I will see you again very soon

Love Lou
